This Spring Summer trend is sure to bring a sudden wave of nostalgia for a lot of us. Just the sight of gingham immediately takes us back to when it was all the rage to match our summer dresses with our scrunchies. Well long gone are those days – gingham has left the playground and taken over runways across the globe.

Although it has been given a new lease of life this season, it remains youthful and fresh, but this time around with a less traditional, more contemporary twist.  We’re not at all ashamed to say that we’re welcoming this trend back into our wardrobes with open arms – in fact, it has slipped back into our closet and life like it never actually left.

This trend, much to our surprise oozes versatility - there are no limits to the ways that it can be worn, it even looks fabulous doubled up. But whether it’s a sultry, 70’s Bardot feel that you’re after or perhaps you’re looking more towards channelling your inner Dorothy with something a little more prim and proper – this pattern compliments any silhouette or style that it falls upon.

Here are our 3 favourite ways to wear gingham this Spring Summer...

This navy bardot dress from Hot & Delicious is super easy to wear - heaven. With it’s loose fit it means you have room to fill yourself up on barbecue food, whilst the off- the- shoulder style flatteringly shows some skin. But it's the bright, quirky pom- pom filled hemlines that will have your friends 'ooh- ing' and 'aah- ing' over your wardrobe this summer. No need to add accessories, just add an ankle boot or trainer and you’re good to go.

If you're a girlie girl, then this Ouor miniskirt is made for you. The pastel blue gingham print is super cute, plus the added ruffled pockets take it to new levels of adorable. Don't be fooled though - when paired with a contrasting patterned jacket this little number is no longer just a sweet addition to your wardrobe but a serious fashion statement. Pop on some trainers and a crop top for the perfect midweek brunching and lunching look.

This green gingham co-ord is bang on trend and is just too pretty to ignore. If like us, you can't get enough of gingham this season, then don't be half hearted about it, girls - why not double it up.
